I am in my second term as a councillor for Ward 3 – I was first elected in 2003.  This website was created to help fill the gap in the relevant information available to Nassagaweya residents.  Newspaper coverage is inconsistent, to say the least.  This website became a conduit.  As I am still a councillor for Nassagaweya, this page will continue to be Nassagaweya-focused.

  • Update: Natural Heritage System designation: Regional Council voted on Dec 16 to leave Nassagaweya under the Greenbelt Natural Heritage System.  While far from being perfect, at least some flexibility will be afforded the local municipality (Milton in this case).  Public meetings will begin in the new year, which will consolidate the NHS within Milton’s Official Plan.
  • New election date – October 25, 2010. WardBoundaryFinalRecommendation Regional councillors will no longer be divided by urban and rural.  It will be the four “northern and four southern wards.  I am running to represent the north.  Please click on “Elect Jan”.

If you or your organization has an event coming up, send me the information and I’ll post it here. There is no charge.

Shop locally, Shop locally, Shop locally.  There is quite a variety of services and businesses right here in Nassagaweya – see Nassagaweya directory at right.

Why a website? Nassagaweya is a very disconnected area given the lack of newspaper distribution over much of the area.  A website becomes a means of providing information to Nassagaweya residents such local news above, and special events.  Be sure to check www.campbellville.net for a calendar of annual events. A website is also a means to solicit input on a variety of topics of interest. As well, it’s a conduit for residents to contact me directly for assistance or to express a concern.

In order to ensure the flow of information,

  • I continue to chair Town Hall style meetings under the umbrella of the Nassagaweya Community Consultation Committee (NCCC) – the “Safe Living Series” (Next is April 14, 2010);
  • Sign up for my E-Focus group so that I may keep you apprised of  issues important to the community.  My list is never shared with anybody else.
  • I send emails out not only to provide information of importance to the community at large, but to solicit your input as well.

List your Nassagaweya / Campbellville / Moffat-based business, community group, organization here. As the data base builds residents may be encouraged to check here before driving off to a neighbouring municipality. Shop local and save gas.  For instance, did you know Campbellville has a Liquor store, sells fresh baked goods, fresh meats and vegetables?  It’s all there at Cristello’s.  There’s a drug store, furniture stores, diners – grab an excellent cup of coffee from the coffee kiosk near the freeway on-ramp.
